Overview


General Information

The Office of Student Services was created in 1968, becoming Student Affairs in 1994. It retains that designation in 2022.

The collection for this area includes Admissions, Registration, Enrollment, Retention, Student Activities, Counseling/Advising, Career Counseling, student policies and more. Graduation and Class Schedules are also included.

Scope

Materials in this collection encompass the years 1964 to 2015. Most materials date from the 1970s and 1980s. Some documents date from the late 60s; a few email printouts cover the 2000s.

  • Document with information on vocational programs offered. The document gives years from 1972 to 1977, types of programs, and enrollments by vocational area. At the bottom it says that vocational educational funds are being used at ECC for nursing, for cooperative work experience in the management technology program, and the activities in the Learning Resources Center [Learning Lab] to assist disadvantaged students to succeed in associate degree programs at ECC and in vocational educational programs at the Elizabethtown State Vocational School.  Written at the top in ink: from Harry Lee, 4/5/78. 
  • Assorted memos about students traveling for sports or other events; offers of complimentary tickets. Sample Faculty Request for Withdrawal of Student; directions for sending withdrawal forms.
  • Memo from RT, Feb 21, 1978 regarding American Freshman and National Norms, Fall 1977 – the document is not attached but faculty can contact RT to borrow. [the document is available on ERIC as are later reports on the same topic.]
  • Things of note: the Flip Friday schedule was in place in the mid-1970s; the college extended classes and delayed graduation in the spring of 1978 due to the difficult winter of 78; the document on vocational programs pertains to a grant for such programs – there are annual reports in the box Career/Vo-Tech.. The LRC [precursor to the Learning Lab] served the students at the Elizabethtown Area Vocational School.
